HOW CAN WE CLAIM TO BE MAKING PROGRESS WITH PEOPLE SUFFERING LIKE THIS?

I saw these pictures in the late hours of last night. What I felt instantly was a mixture of pity and anger. Tears choked my breath at the sight. How can we claim to be making any progress on earth with people still suffering in this manner? I live in Africa. Although, we claim that Nigeria is the giant of Africa, I have seen intense poverty in this country. A country blessed with so much yet poverty engulfs men, women and children everywhere like an epidemic. People eat garbage and call it food. In this country, people still earn less than $50 after slaving for a month and yet pay heavily for transportation out of the meager paycheck. The cost of feeding is outrageous in this part of the globe. I will not mention the coffin people eat and sleep in everyday – take a look at the pictures below. Do you call these homes? Little wonder Africa suffers from the world’s deadliest epidemics. I speak of what I have seen here. I am sure many countries can identify with this too. I wonder how people enjoy their sleep in a comfy waterbed when there are others sleeping in the street with nothing to eat tonight. Maybe it’s only me thinking like this.

We really cannot allow the unprivileged in our society to wallow in penury alone. Nah! We cannot allow them to depend on the government and oftentimes stingy employers to decide where their next meal will come from. We’ve got to lend a hand to those around us. The economy of the world is really bad, we may just be the good thing people are gonna see in the coming month or years.

Today’s post is a call to all and sundry, to share with those in need in our environments. Quit storing up wealth and start sharing no matter how little. The joy of making someone smile is more comforting than amassing wealth. I implore people of every country not just residents of Africa. Wherever you are, there are people in need. The time is now to cease looking for what you can do for them and be the miracle to someone.

God help us. I hope you take action after my pictorial post today.
